FreedomX.net was founded on March 5, 2009 after it’s owner, the distinguished (at least in his own mind) William H. Branson, spent many hours awake mourning the death of the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution. For those of you who were educated in government brainwashing encampments, here is the amendment:
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Let’s examine this a bit further by thinking about all of the things that the Federal Government does which it does not have the power to do. Typing out a list that long would exceed the storage space on my server, so let’s contemplate what the Federal Government actually is authorized to do. Fortunately, this work has already been done for me and can be found in the Constitution (Article 1, Section 8). Here is the list:
- The power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts, and excises as well as to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States, provided all imposts and excists are uniform throughout the states
- To borrow money on the credit of the United States
- To regulate Commerce with foreign nations, among the several states, and with Indian Tribes
- To establish uniform rules on naturalization and bankruptcies
- To coin money and regulate its value, set exchange rates, fix the standard of weights and measures
- Provide for punishment of counterfeiting securities and coin
- Establish a post office
- To grant patents
- Constitute tribunals (courts lower than the SCOTUS)
- Define and punish piracy and felonies on the high seas
- Declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, make rules concerning captures on land and water
- Establish an Army
- Establish a Navy
- To establish rules for land and naval forces
- To call up a militia
- To organize, arm, and discipline a militia
- To establish and govern the District of Columbia
- To makes laws necessary and proper for executing the Constitution
See? There is a lot that these people claim to be able to do, while they are doing it, that they simply only get away with because they have a monopoly on force. I have little (and by little I mean..no) respect for those who use force to exert political change.
